Sample Branch resolution on KyotoPass this at your local branch and send a message to Kim that we support Labor's stance The _______ branch of the ALP acknowledges that climate change is occurring and that it will have a significant effect on the Australian environment and economy. It is acknowledged that climate change is principally caused by the build up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere in particular Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The predicted effects on Australia are higher temperatures, rising sea levels, decreasing rainfall and increasing evaporation. The ___________ branch supports the ratification of the Kyoto protocol for stabilisation of greenhouse gas emissions at 1990 levels. It is recognised that even with this protocol implemented climate change will continue and that further measures are required to reduce the levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Governments at all levels, Federal, State and local, must begin implementing forward planning processes that account for the predicted impacts of climate change on Australia's water supply, environment, infrastructure and agriculture. These processes need to include robust regional models that identify likely consequences of climate change and identify appropriate measures to adapt to and manage these changes. MOVED: Please send copies of resolutions to your Federal Electorate Council and to the Federal Leader, Kim Beazley. Please also send a copy to LEAN, PO Box 118, Mascot, 1460. |
