What we're doing in Victoria PDF Print E-mail

Here's a few of the things we're doing in Victoria.

Events

Thankyou drinks

To every LEAN member who has worked so hard campaigning for climate action and a carbon price this year, THANKYOU!  Join us on Thursday 10 November at 6.30 pm at La Notte (Lygon st Carlton), and we'll share a drink and celebrate the passage of the clean energy bills into law.  Mark Dreyfus MP QC, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change, will be joining us.  A $10 entry donation will be gratefully accepted to help raise funds for our continuing campaigns.

Check out the flier for details, here.

Backwards March

In just one year, the Baillieu Government has taken us a decade backwards on the environment.  To protest this appalling record, a coalition of Victorian environment groups are organising the Backwards March - a rally on Sunday 13 November from 1.00 - 2.30 pm outside Parliament House.

See the facebook page for details: http://www.facebook.com/#!/BackwardsMarch.

Campaigns

A carbon price won't happen unless you get out there and make sure it does!  Here's what you can do.

Doorknocking Campaign

We need to do the hard work of convincing the electorate that carbon pricing is the right thing to do.  If you're upset with the way the carbon price is being received then do something about it!  We're doorknocking marginal seats in Victoria on most weekends, and we'd love you to join us.  Send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll get you involved.

Media Campaign

If you want to bring some reason to the climate change debate, join our media campaign group!  We'll send you an email each week reviewing key climate change stories and giving you the tools you need to join the debate.  To join, just email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and ask to subscribe.

Other Say Yes Campaigns

There's a whole range of things you can do to help spread the good word about climate action!  Check out the full list on the Say Yes website here: http://www.sayyesaustralia.org.au/spread-the-word/.

You can also check out this website, which gives you all the tools you need to take climate action and help make a carbon price happen: http://climatechangeaction.org.au/.

Information

We've finally got a carbon price!  If you missed the announcement, or just want to get across the details, here's our summary of the carbon price in a nutshell.

You can read the whole package here at www.cleanenergyfuture.gov.au.

Here's some commonly raised arguments against a carbon price, and some suggestions for how you can respond to them.  Check out the factsheet: Busting the Climate Myths.
