As with the Labor party, LEAN organises on a state-by-state basis. Although many campaigns we work on have a national flavour it much more effective to coordinate in this way. Click on your state to find out how to get involved. Our state branches provide the opportunity to connect with other Labor supporters and members who are committed to ensuring Labor leads the country to a cleaner future.
You can also get involved in by
- Making sure you’re enrolled to vote! Your vote counts in deciding Australia's clean energy future. Encourage your friends to do the same. Did you know hundreds of thousands of young Australians didn’t register to vote in 2013?
- If you are a Labor member or supporter, get in touch with your local Labor branch or Labor parliamentarian and let them know you want action on climate and the environment. Get in contact with your state convenor to help you facilitate this.
- Labor has always known that winning government federally is crucial. But there is lots to do at State and local level too on climate change, just like there is on other environmental issues. States control things like how easy it is for a farmer to put a wind farm on his or her own land, for example, or how easy it is for a company to come onto that land without permission, to frack for coal seam gas. Some local governments are acting themselves to install solar power for their communities. Contact your local representatives and ask them what they’re doing on climate change and how you can help.
- More local LEAN groups are opening up to make it easier for more Labor members and supporters to work on climate change. Get in touch with your State branch or LEAN National to discuss what we can do together.
