At time of writing Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Labor Party are set to form Government in Queensland. LEAN campaigned hard across the state for Labor candidates. LEAN is thrilled that such a strong environment policy was on offer including an end to tree clearing, 50% renewable energy by 2030 and blocking of public funds to the Adani mine. LEAN is particularly proud of its role in delivering the commitment to 1 GW of publicly owned renewable energy.
LEAN believes we need to reconsider the entire design of the Australian electricity market as the competition-based, marketised system is failing us in so many ways.
